BEAST OF BAMBURGH
(Rich, 2016)

Tet., Dor., Mid season, 7 1/2" blooms, 35" tall, CMO & EMO, Sculpted cristate form

These extra large 7 1/2" golden yellow blooms have a light pumpkin orange blush and small olive green throat. The cristate petals are wild and unruly. The cristations can be simple midrib or a complicated combination of both the midrib and surface cristate forms, edged with teeth. The tall 35" scapes hold the early morning and cool morning opening blooms well above the dormant blue green foliage. Blooming cristate even after being lined out, Beast of Bamburgh prefers to settle in to show the full effect on 3 and 4 way branching. Pollen is easy to use, pods are a bit more difficult but not impossible. From a cross of my 2008 introduction Doc Webster with Gossard's Heman, the seeds were kindly given to me by Rich Howard to grow.
